Agenda & Proceedings

1. Meeting called to order:

  • review and adopt agenda

2. Roll Call:

3. Status Review and Discussion:

  • Outstanding Issue review/update: (from last call)

Suggested topics to be covered:

  • reports on member activities that are OOR-related
  • getting ready for the OntologySummit2009 face-to-face workshop on Apr-6 & 7
    • Peter: we can offer
      • the OOR sandbox for SDOs (Standards Development Organizations) to play around with while they are ontologizing their standards
      • invite SDOs to federate their (future) ontology repositories with OOR
      • Bruce: ISO 11179 part-3 is out for review - will post link to [oor-forum]
      • Bruce will communicate with Steve Ray to put ISO 11179 / Kevin Keck onto the Summit F2F agenda
  • getting ready for the Apr-16 "Use Cases" panel session
    • Bruce: ISO 11179 / XMDR will have good input for that
    • Todd: had some use cases posted before -
    • Ken: have student using the OOR-sandbox and may have use cases related to webservices that may be of interest
    • ... K to start some discussion about this on the [oor-forum] list
  • Other Progress updates and Discussions:
  • OOR-related-project status updates:
  • Funding and proposals
    • Ken: not able to get in touch with the NSF datanet people - need FrankOlken's help
  • short term activity and action plans
  • OOR sandbox instance - status review - http://oor-01.cim3.net
    • Mike: who is getting the "feedback" from oor-01
      • Peter: don't know ... nice to bring this up on the [oor-dev] list (the Stanford folks could probably tell us, or set something up) ... maybe nice to setup new listservs to capture and archive them openly.
    • Mike: suggest others to load some experimental ontologies for testing
    • for the "sandbox OOR instance", we will not limit submitters to be authors (although it would be nice)
    • Peter: by the time we have the "production OOR instance" we probably need submission policies and, at least, rudimentary gatekeeping policies (as discussed at OntologySummit2008)
    • Kate: consider using Trac with the OOR instance
      • tracking both the repository and its content
      • Ken: we use Trac too (it's a wiki-based issue tracker and built on top of a subversion repository)
      • Mike: the BioPortal may be using the gforge bug tracker
    • Todd: still working on reverse engineering the BioPortal architecture - using "Enterprise Architect"
      • K: consider "Semantic Architect"
    • new: 2009.04.03
      • Ken: observation - uploads to OOR sandbox seems to take a long time for a relatively small ontology
      • Ken: we have huge ontologies (up to 0.5GB in size) that we will be dealing with
        • Todd: have the students capture some performace data ... would be of interst
      • Peter: please discuss these things on the [oor-dev] list
    • Mike Dean will reepost some of his suggestions to the [oor-dev] list
      • Mike: like, add a "submitter" field (to distinguish that from the author)
    • Peter: still want feedback on what people want to do with the oor-01 error messages - Mike, Benjamin, Natasha, ... ?

4. New Issues:

  • Mike: suggest we add a session for Michael Grüninger (and his students) to present their work plans ... as soon as they are ready for it.
  • Ken: will want to connect up with Michael Grüninger to coordinate student projects (after the summit F2F)
