      • The time of this teleconference is in direct conflict with the ODM FTF telecon which means that Elisa and myself cannot participate. Furthermore, the OWL working group telecon starts at 1PM Eastern Time on Wednesdays and runs until 2:30PM, making this a particularly bad day and time for us.

  • Peter P. Yim: following the success of our 2008.02.28 OOR-Panel Session, we might want to consider doing at least two more:
    • one panel discussion on ontology developers and stewards' (i.e. early-adopter content-provider) requirements & expectations?
    • another panel discussion on ontology-of-ontology?
    • open dates - Thursdays, regular Ontolog event slot: 3/27, 4/3 & 4/10.
  • discuss the relationship of this initiative to other organizations like Ontolog, sponsors, funders, etc.

  • Funding: getting organized
    • possibilities - government agencies (NSF?, NIST?, whoever would fund open infrastructure, DARPA, IARPA (Jeff), ... etc.); EU funders; Vulcan (Mark)?; bring in W3C in a exploratory (XG) working group (e.g. Semantic Web Deployment) (although they are a funding sink rather than a funding source; but good for visibility);   
    • grant proposal team(s) / submit proposal(s) to
    • Frank: NSF next solicitations due July-1, interop, data network partners, programs coming back
      • consider NSF-OCI (Office of Cyber Infrastructure)
    • try contacting Todd Hughes and see if DARPA is a possibility (Leo)
    • Peter: consider multiple smalls proposals and a big one ($20 million +/-) to make OOR a sustainable OOR operation
    • consider Foundations, and institutions like Vulcan (Peter).
  • Use Cases & Requirements
    • soliciting 'early adopter' partners who can offer up their ontologies, help refine requirements, and provide user feedback.
    • see above discussion ref. the two upcoming joint OOR-OntologySummit2008 panel sessions (3/27 & 4/2)

  • re-establishing a regular weekly time slot
    • Farrukh: block out 90 min. per week, but try to schedule only a fortnightly 60-min sync-up call, unless level of activities deem it necessary to spend more time to meet synchronously.
      • Peter: agree totally ... we may use that same slot sub-team meetings too.
  • Next Meeting: possibly a time slot for regular weekly calls
