4) assess how we are doing in terms of "relevance" and "value to our membership"; future direction and action planning discussion     (1E10)

  • Relevance     (1E11)
    • Mike: Ontolog is doing a great job now ...     (1E11A)
    • Ken: a mini-series like "Database and Ontology" was great ... that format can help us attract and involve other communities     (1E11B)
    • Michelle: we're doing a lot of things right ... people are getting a lot out of the work ... OOR work, series works (DB, OKMDS, Measure & Quality, ...) were great ... do something that sounds a bit crazy that might become a reality down the road     (1E11C)
    • Doug: Ontolog is a very diverse community ... the virtual events have been great ... great presentations, but no discussion on the forum follows     (1E11D)
    • Peter: yes, very diverse ... almost disjoint activities and community segments     (1E11E)
    • Kurt: huge energy ... definitely sustainable ... almost difficult to define a focus     (1E11F)

5) plan events for the next two quarters and beyond     (1E13)

  • Duane Nickull and Kurt Conrad will plan for another "Ontology Implementation and Applications" panel session. Will lock in a date fairly soon, possibly Thu 2008.11.13     (1E18)

we got this far on the agenda last week ... will continue the discussion from about here at this session.     (1E22)

  • "Ask the Experts" projecting - co-champion: Kurt Conrad / Bob Smith / SvenVanPoucke(?) - discussion deferred to next week     (1E23)
    • Ken / Kurt suggested: start a page where people can ask questions (to ontology experts)     (1E23A)
    • when enough question accumulate and can be clustered, we can feature an "Ask the Experts" type session (which Sven proposed before)     (1E23B)
    • Bob / Ken / Mike: be aware that most people don't care about "ontology", or even if they do, they don't call it by that "O" word     (1E23C)

6) review projects, series' and institutional collaborations     (1E26)

7) Follow-up Activities & Action Plan:     (1E27)
