- [2] process - http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?OntologySummit2007_Process/Draft2#nidU7S
- [3] survey (draft) - http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?OntologySummit2007_Process/Draft2#nidUFO
- Discussion:
- Steve: believe we are on the right track, knows what needs to be done, and just needs to do it
- Steve: confirmed that Michael Grüninger will be working with Leo Obrst on the "Framework" and co-chair the Apr-23 am session
- once a draft comes out from Leo and Michael (which may be on the 'formal' side) we can have people chime in and build on that
- Lisa: a couple of ideas involving Venn Diagrams etc., for people who are not from the community. Will post this as a suggestion
- Peter: proposing a yin-yang perspective (the dualities or dichotomies) of the various aspects of 'ontologies and its appplications' we are seeing today
- Frank Olken: confirms that he will be working with Olivier Bodenreider on the "Communique" and co-chair the Apr-24 am session
- Ken Baclawski: can start contributing to some synthesis work (e.g. on the subject of "best practices") ... will map that back to the theme of "Ontology, Taxonomy, Folksonomy: Understanding the Distinctions"
- Peter: help in this respect also needed after the survey (which we will release today and allow people 7~10 days to get back to us on) responses are collected. Of course, we need synthesis on slected topics of the ongoing discourse
- Ken will review and pick the topic(s), make a post, and get wiki page(s) started on them. (Peter will work with Ken, offline, to start those pages.)
- Steve: believe we are on the right track, knows what needs to be done, and just needs to do it
- 8b. event planning
- 29-Mar-2007 "Probabilistic Reasoning and Ontology Evaluation" event - Steve Ray will be out-of-the-country next week, Ken Baclawski will help coordinate. Need final list of panelists, title (hopefully also abstract) of alll the briefing, and biodata of panelists that is still missing (only Terry, as of now.)
- 23 & 24-Apr-2007 - Ontology Summit 2007 face-to-face events - Steve will make a post to [ontolog-invitation] when the NIST registration site is ready
- 12-Apr-2007, Steve will help remind Ed Barkmeyer that we are still looking to receive his cleaned up talk abstract.
- invited (need schedule confirmation): Bill Andersen
- (discussed before and) about to invite: Adam Pease (update on one of the most popular talks; KurtConrad), DeborahMcGuinness (on Inference Web; ElisaKendall), Mark Musen (on NCBO and its new "bioportal"; prompted by BarrySmith)
- 8c. Community Planning - discussion postponed
- picking up from where we left off at: http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2007_02_01#nidT7O
- discussing, in particular, about sponsorships, funding and sustainability of the community (something we postponed from the above session)
