Terrance Marthinus
Terrance Marthinus is an IT staff member with 15 years of experience at Cape Peninsula University of Technology in South Africa. He obtained his BTech degree in IT in 2017 and is pursuing his Master's in MICT at this institution. His research interests lie in ontology engineering, specifically in the area of gait-related diseases. He recently wrote a paper titled "On Domain Ontology for Decision Support in the Treatment of Gait-related Diseases," published by IEEE at the 2021 21st International Conference on Computational Science and Its Applications (ICCSA), which can be accessed at the following link: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/9732371. The paper presents an ontology that provides decision support for the treatment of gait-related diseases based on a formal representation of knowledge in the domain.
Terrance has taken his research a step further and developed the Gait Analysis Domain Ontology (GADO) based on the paper he wrote. He is currently writing his thesis, "Development of a Domain Ontology for Decision Support in the Treatment of Gait-related Diseases". The thesis expands on his work and provides an in-depth analysis of the GADO, demonstrating how it can be used to improve decision-making in the treatment of gait-related diseases. Terrance's research is an exciting development in the field of ontology engineering and has the potential to make a significant impact on the treatment of gait-related diseases.
