Rebekah is an Associate with Booz Allen & Hamilton located in McLean, VA. She has over 10 years of experience with technology architecture and implementation including significant experience with service-oriented architecture (SOA) strategy and planning, distributed systems architecture and implementation and grid computing research and development.

She has lead efforts that include shaping guidance, recommendations, and standards for program managers, technical architects, and service developers for service oriented systems. She has also served as the technical lead for both service security and service discovery architecture teams.

Prior to joining Booz Allen & Hamilton, Rebekah was a key contributor to the NASA Information Power Grid (IPG) project at the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA. She designed and developed a dynamic distributed authorization system built within a pki-enabled web services framework. In addition, Rebekah led the development of a grid job broker to evaluate job submission characteristics against available computing resources and dispatch the job accordingly.

Prior to joining the IPG team, Rebekah was an Assistant Research Engineer at the Applied Research Laboratory of The Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA(ARL). She lead several technical projects that implemented all types of solutions, including middleware services, application objects, presentation layers, intelligent database agents and COTS customizations. Also while at ARL, Ms. Metz was a lecturer in Theoretical Data Structures & Algorithms and Database Management Systems topics.

Her Master’s thesis research focused on authorization in a distributed environment. She has presented findings at several workshops and conferences, including Supercomputing 2002 & 2003, the ACM Workshop on XML Security, ACSAC 2003, and the Winter Simulation Conference. She has also been an invited speaker at several grid computing workshops.

Rebekah completed her undergraduate work at John Cabot University in Rome, Italy. She earned a degree in Business Administration with highest honors while working as a Program Coordinator for the Frohring Management Institute.

Rebekah's background and interests led her to participate in the OASIS Service-Oriented Architecture Technical Committee, including the development and delivery of presentations about the work of the the SOA-RM C in venues such as the Collaborative Expedition Workshop Series sponsored by the GSA.

She currently lives with her husband and daughter in Arlington, VA and is actively improving home construction skills as they slowly remodel their first house.
