== LOCATION  ==

The workshop will be held at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Advanced Chemical Sciences Building 227, Room A202, Gaithersburg, Maryland.  Gaithersburg is located 40 km north of Washington, DC. 

== REGISTRATION  ==

Pre-registration is required to attend this meeting. Registration can be done electronically [https://rproxy.nist.gov/CRS/conf_ext.cfm?conf_id=1536 here]
The registration form must be received by March 6, 2006.  Cancellations and/or substitutions must be requested, in writing, by March 6. 

Due to increased security, NO on-site registrations will be accepted and all attendees must be pre registered. Photo identification must be presented at the main gate to be admitted to the conference. Attendees must wear their conference badge at all times while on the campus.

== INCLEMENT WEATHER  ==

Infrequently, the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area is affected by severe weather.  When this occurs, a decision may be made to either close the NIST facility or delay arrival times for employees.  If inclement weather forces NIST to be closed or delayed, this conference will be affected.  For updates on the status on NISTs opening, please call the NIST Status Line at (301) 975-8000 or 1-800-437-4385 x8000.  This status line is updated by 5:30 a.m. on a daily basis, when necessary. 

== ACCOMMODATIONS  ==

Workshop registration does not include your hotel reservation.  A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hilton Washington DC North / Gaithersburg,  (301) 977-8900 or 
1-800-599-5111.  The special room rate is $109, plus 12%  tax. To register for a room, please call the hotel directly, no later than Saturday, February 25, 2006, and mention that you are attending the [http://www.mel.nist.gov/div826/msid/sima/interopweek/index.htm NIST Interoperability Week]. After February 25, the rooms will be released for general sale at the prevailing rates of the hotel. 

== TRANSPORTATION  ==

Super-Shuttle, 1-800-258-3826, offers commercial van service from Dulles International, Ronald Reagan National, and  Baltimore-Washington International Airports to Gaithersburg. Call for reservations. 

The Washington Metro has subway service to Gaithersburg.  Metro can be boarded at National Airport.  Take a Yellow Line train marked "Mount Vernon Square" to Gallery Place and transfer to a Red Line train marked "Shady Grove" to the Shady Grove station.  Service is every 6 to 15 minutes, depending on the time of day.  The travel time from National to Shady Grove is about 50 minutes.  Taxis are available from the Shady Grove Metro station to area hotels. 

A NIST shuttle van operates for official visitors and conference attendees from the Shady Grove Metro station to NIST. The van leaves the Shady Grove station on the quarter and three-quarter hour (e.g., 8:15, 8:45...4:45, 5:15) from the east side parking lot. 

== DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS  ==

To reach NIST:
From northbound I-270 take Exit 10, Route 117 West, Clopper Road. Bear right at the first light onto Clopper Road / West Diamond Avenue. At the next light, turn left onto the NIST grounds.  Exit the Visitor Center and turn right.  Turn left at the Stop sign onto North Drive.  Follow North Drive and take your first right into the parking lot in front of Building 227.  Room A202 is on the 2nd floor. 

From southbound I-270: Traveling south on I 270: take Exit 11, Route 124, Quince Orchard Road / Montgomery Village Avenue. Bear right at the first light onto Route 124 West, Quince Orchard Road.  At the third light on Quince Orchard Road, turn left onto Rt. 117.  At the next light, turn right onto the NIST grounds. Exit the Visitor Center and turn right.  Turn left at the Stop sign onto North Drive.  Follow North Drive and take your first right into the parking lot in front of Building 227.  Room A202 is on the 2nd floor. 

To reach the Hilton Washington DC North / Gaithersburg:
Traveling north on I-270: take Exit 11, Rt. 124 East, Montgomery Village Avenue. At the second traffic light, veer right onto Rt. 355. Turn right at the first traffic light onto Perry Parkway. Proceed halfway around the rotary and the hotel will be on your right. 

From southbound I-270: take Exit 11, Route 124, Quince Orchard Road / Montgomery Village Avenue. Turn left at the first light onto Route 124, stay in the far right hand lane.  Go straight thru the second light.  At the next intersection, bear to the right onto Rt. 355, North Frederick Rd.
At the first light on Rt. 355, turn right onto Perry Parkway.  Go half around the rotary circle, continuing on Perry Parkway.  The hotel will be on your right.
