Plettenberg is an ontologist at Highfleet. Previously, she worked at <nowiki>HireSites</nowiki> as a taxonomy developer/information architect, and as a research assistant at the College of Information Studies, University of Maryland. Plettenberg was also the CEO and proprietor of Nonlinear Press in Baltimore, and was a math editor at Words & Numbers. She earned an M.L.S. from the University of Maryland, with a concentration in information architecture, and a B.A. in mathematics from Rice University.
