Janna Hastings

I studied computer science and biology and have used ontologies for knowledge representation to solve biological problems. I contributed significantly to the development of the ChEBI chemical ontology and have developed several other related ontologies including for chemical information and for nanomaterials. I have also developed a suite of ontologies for the representation of entities of relevance for mental functioning and am helping to support the development of ontologies for human behaviour in the context of the social and behavioural sciences. Lastly, I am co-chair of the International Conference of Biomedical Ontology that will be held in Bolzano in September 2020.
