Ontology Summit 2019 Financial Explanation Session 2

As a result of unexpected circumstances, the session co-chairs will not be available to run the meeting today, although they might be able to join briefly at some point. As a result, we will have a general discussion which could include topics outside the summit theme. Some potential topics:

  • Any topic related to Explanation
  • The face-to-face symposium

[12:52] Douglas R. Miles: It is about writing programs in Common Logic instead of typical computer languages

[13:00] RaviSharma: ken discussed and we agreed to carryout a doodle poll to determine if face to face summit session is desirable and get commitments from F2F participants!

[13:02] RaviSharma: Ram described an NSF opportunity relating to OKN and also informed that an issue can perhaps be put together for washington journal relating to ontology.

[13:03] RaviSharma: discussion covered examples like need of ontology for complex situations such as Boeing 737 Max problem (Terry).

[13:06] RaviSharma: Doug mentioned need of more than one person and role of AI HCI etc for understanding the whole system and its error free certification

[13:11] TerryLongstreth: The Washington Academy of Sciences has a peer-reviewed journal. Ram and I are members of the Board of Managers of the Academy. The quarterly Journal solicits papers on any scientific or engineering related topic. For submission info see https://www.washacadsci.org/journal/
