    • conflict with 5th International Semantic Web Conference (same week, but in Athens, Georgia)
    • abstract deadline is May 1, 2006 (so we still have some time to get organized if we want to really do something)
    • this is definitely relevant to us ... let's think things over and come back for more discussion at the next call
    • Kurt Conrad (2006.06.08): suggest that maybe we can track down the organizers and liaise with them to see if there is any collaboration potentials -- volunteer to take on this task solicited!

      • Key Dates and Expectations, Contingencies (May 29th deadline extensions?)
      • Recruiting efforts
      • Program Committee-Social Committee Logistics and Wiki Support
      • Etc.
      • Denise will probably be able to join us at the July 23 face-to-face
        • Bob will arrange to send her an 'invitation'
      • Steve will consider having people from NIST come join us at the F2F (Rex suggests KC Morris, if possible)
      • Peter: will try to invite SRI people over, since they are going through an exercise rather similar to ours (which culminates in the 7/23 F2F)
      • had some discussion on cadidate participants to the 2F
        • may need to extend the 6/29 CFP
      • need to recruit a champion to work with Kurt and Rex for scheduling some social activities and other meetings - Rex Brooks (Kurt will join them too) will try to get some sugestion from Mark Musen
      • candidates additional meetings: Stanford SMI, KSL; SRI-AI-Lab, EPRI, IBM-Almaden Research Center, PARC; company with Doug Engelbart;
        • Jack Park: SRI receptive to hosting a meeting at the AI Center; and see the value to arranging some presentations by Ontolog members and their work (e.g. intro to Ontolog, Denise, SOA, ...) to the AI Center people during the meeting.
          • members of the organizing committee will continue to pursue this with Jack.
    • Discussion:
      • Peter P. Yim (2006.06.07): I am hoping we can engage the proponents of various approaches (OntologTaxoThesaurus, Concept Extraction & Clustering, Subject Maps, openIRIS, UIMA, Folksonomy, CUO-extension on controlled-vocabulary, ....) to showcase their solutions, using the "Ontologizing of the Ontolog Body of Knowledge" as their test case. ... Even better, come up with some ways and means to allow these methodologies to be "integrated" into something that REALLY make sense (i.e. NOT just for the sake of the exercise), and is more comprehensive than any of the individual solutions. ... I believe that is what Bob Smith, Denise Bedford, EMichaelMaximilien, Jack Park & Patrick Durusau and Pat Cassidy are all alluding to, all along. ... No one has actually taken the project on, though. This series of event, culminating in our 2006.07.23 F2F workshop, may hopefully, create that opportunity.
      • Peter P. Yim (2006.06.06): suggest that the organizing committee might make an attempt to find the intersection between (1.a) speakers and panelists of our current "Ontologizing the Ontolog BOK" series AND (1.b) the UOS conveners and organizers, with (2) the Protege Conference registrants (find out from SMI); and engage those people in our workshop discourse.
