  • Next three scheduled sessions are underway:
  • Outstanding Issue Update: (from last call)
  • Jeanne will prepare a press release for Federal Computer Week and Government Computer News to announce the mini-series.
    • Jeanne will work on it this week
    • Susan will pass along a contact that might help
  • Discussions:
  • getting ready for the [OKMDS] session on Thu 2008.02.21 - ref. ConferenceCall_2008_02_21
    • topic: "How KM Supports Decision Making Within Government"
    • panelists: Giora Hadar, ... Michael Kull (?) - need confirmation (need bios and pictures too, if we only have less than 3 people on the panel)
    • session chair: Jeanne Holm
  • ascertaining that everything is still on target for the [OKMDS] session on Thu 2008.03.22 - ref. ConferenceCall_2008_03_20
  • status review of the [OKMDS] session on Thu 2008.04.17 - ref. ConferenceCall_2008_04_17
    • had meeting of all* panelists to plan the session (*except for John) when SimonBuckinghamShum was in town in Palo Alto, CA on Mon 2008.01.18
    • topic now updated to "Knowledge Mapping for Sense Making" (was tentatively, " 'Wicked Problems,' Dialog Mapping and Decisions " previously)
    • John Lowrance has a conflict, Eric Yeh (also from SRI AI Lab) will now be on the panel instead
    • Peter: everything is on-track
  • Susan suggested we might try to invite Yochai Benkler, author of The Wealth of Networks for May. His focus would be on open networks of people that challenge conventional thinking of firms as the primary place for effective knowledge management and decision-making toward wealth-making. Susan will check on interest and availability.
    • schedule that for ??-May-2008? (5/1 or 5/8 preferred; then 5/22 or 5/29 if need be)
    • we decided that Susan should go ahead and invite Yochai, and then reserve a May-2008 date
  • need to tie down the Closing Session for the OKMDS mini-series
    • Andy to clarify topic & panel selection with Jeanne
    • confirm the Date -- ? June-2008?
    • a session on Andy's work? - Jeanne will follow-up with Andy on this
      • this would be for ??-June-2008
      • this will be our wrap-up session - therefore great that it will be featuring NASA work too
  • progress review on the [okmds-convene] online discourse which is being archived and cross-posted to [KMgov]
    • still not get very active discussions, possibly due to:
      • cross-discipline between disparate subject matter
      • rapport between the membership of the multiple communities involved
    • Ken: will continue to mull this over with Kurt
    • leveraging on the panel sessions
      • highlighting the core questions again at the beginning of each session to re-focus people toward them - maybe the session chair can do it (even flash a slide with all our questions during the intro)
      • interviews speakers post session - this could also be done over the "chat" session, after most people have dropped off - and post the Q&A to the list
  • take another look on how we are doing, and what else could to be done to make this an even greater success
