  • Short summary of the founding meeting
    • Founding meeting held 2009.04.29
    • nothing is official yet until all the signatures are in
    • updated Statute now online ... updates included,
      • adding: education; knowledge management
      • extended (originally 1 year) official assembly time to, not later than FOIS 2010 (May 2010)
    • discussion on temporary executive council membership selection
      • will include Peter as being from Ontolog (rather than CIM3) ... as we are trying to avoid inclusion of individuals from commercial organizations
      • Peter clarified that LeoObrst's employer, MITRE is a US federal government funded research organization
      • still open to invite other EC members as needed
        • concluded: we will also invite Leo Obrst as an EC member in light of the above
  • Status of the "wet signature" process
    • chair mail already started ... John (signed), Anthony (signed), Peter, Mark, ...

  • Formal positions within the EC according to the statute: secretary, treasurer
    • Nicola: happy to be President, will strive to keep IAOA democratic
    • Nicola: proposal - Stefano Borgo as secretary, and Laure Vieu as trasurer
      • All: agreed and confirmed.
  • Formal subscription process for new members: membership fees, ways of payment
    • Nicola: the founding assembly has proposed 50 Euro for regular members, 10 Euro for students
    • John: does that include the journal (AOJ)?
      • Nicola: ref discussion with IOA Press - free online access for the first year for the journal, and for all archived issues (including the FOIS issues)
        • we will need to discuss further the arrangement for arrangements past the first year
    • Michael: what would be our cost? ... is subsidy to FOIS (to cover losses from the conference) included?
      • Laure: we will need to work something out yet
      • Nicola: since FOIS is going to be an IAOA activity, it is reasonable to cover the risk of the FOIS organizing institution
    • Mark: consider the size of endowment that would be needed to sustain, which also helps liability
      • suggest this to be an investigation the Treasurer will take up
      • Peter: agree that focusing on getting an endowment is a good strategic move at the start of IAOA
      • Nicola: in terms of liability, a fallback will be to rely on "friendly institutions" (like a university) to help us out
    • All: adopted membership fees - 50 Euro for regular members, 15 Euro for students
    • We postpone the discussion and decision on membership fee for "institutional members" ... details about institutional membership need to be worked out for the by-laws yet
  • IAOA web site
    • Nicola: will be putting this together ... calling for support from the EC members
