  • Rex Brooks: I submitted a paper to the First 1st Industrial Results of

Semantic Technologies Workshop co-located with the 6th International Semantic Web Conference, I have been continuing my interests in health informatics, and I suspect the time is approaching when I should bring this topic and emergency response management back up in the Ontolog Forum. The question is when.

    • Thursday, 18-Oct-2007 - Dr. Matthew West and Dr. Leo Obrst presented the 11th session in the "Database And Ontology" series - Dr. Alan Wu from Oracle's Database Semantic Technologies Group was our invited speaker. This is the second of the two-part presentation from Oracle and was focused more on Oracle's OWL Inferencing implementation. Dr. Wu's talk was entitled: "A Scalable RDBMS-Based Inference Engine for RDFS/OWL." Please refer to details at the session wiki page, at: ConferenceCall_2007_10_18 ...   • Rex Brooks - health informatics, emergency response management etc.
    • Rex: landscape is shaping up a bit more
    • Barry's suggestion to have Mark Musen provide an update on NCBO is a good idea
    • Rex: OASIS EDXL-Hospital Availability Exchange, EDXL-Resource Message are both through the first (60-day) public review now. Probably time to do a session about them after they're through the 2nd (60-day) public review.

  • Steve told us that he will be try to be more active after the summer
  • Steve: (responding to Rex) sustainable manufacturing will be getting more attention
    • The international IMS research consortium is particularly interested in sustainable manufacturing too
    • Rex: Bob Smith is probably more interested in that. I (Rex) is more interested in emergency management, quality/reliability of the messages, sensor-net, etc.
